Highland Park  Community Top

How long has it been around?

The program was established in Highland Park in 1997, and expanded to Detroit in 2003 in Scout car area 13-1.
Since that time, Weed & Seed has been sponsoring and supporting a variety of events we probably all recognize:
Neighborhood Clean-Ups, abandoned House Board-Ups, community policing, national Night Out, BBQ Cook-Offs, Safe Night, Paint the Town, The Highland Park Play Escape, and much, much more.

Who is responsible for Highland Park's Weed & Seed strategy?

The Highland Park / DPD Central District's strategy is part of a nationwide network of 380 Weed & Seed strategies that have been established across the country by the Department of Justice. Jerome Drain, Director of the Highland Park site, is responsible for the day-to-day operation and implementation of the strategy.

How can I participate in Weed & Seed?

To find out how you, your block club, your community group, senior citizen organization, church or business can participate in weeding out the negative and seeding in the positive in our community, please contact:
